Buying with Own Art
Want to buy with Own Art? Start the application process using the link next to each artwork. Read more about Own Art below.
Own Art makes buying art easy and affordable by letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months with an interest free* loan. Own Art loans can be used for the purchase of any kind of contemporary art or craft from paintings and drawings to sculpture and limited editions. Why not start your collection today from as little as £10 per month?
How much can I borrow?
Own Art loans allow you to borrow from as little as £100 up to a maximum of £25,000 towards the purchase of works of art by living artists. You can chose to finance all or just part of your purchase. You cannot apply for multiple Own Art loans to cover a single purchase, although multiple items can be bought with one loan. There’s no deposit necessary (although you can pay as large or small deposit as you like).
How do I apply?
Once you’ve found the piece of work that you want to buy, just let us know that you’d like to apply for an Own Art loan to finance your purchase. Own Art is available to all UK residents over the age of 18, subject to status. This means that you must be able to meet the following criteria in order to be approved for a loan:
- Over the age of 18
- A permanent UK resident
- Working at least 16 hours a week (employed or self-employed)
- A retired person in receipt of a pension
- If you are not working but are married to or living with a partner who does have a full time job, then you may still apply provided that your partner is happy for their employment details to be included on your application form.
You can apply for the loan in person, over the telephone, or we can email a link to the application to you. If you are applying for the loan in person you’ll need to have proof of ID with you in the form of a driver’s licence or utility bill, along with a credit or debit card as proof of signature. Note that if you apply over the telephone or online we will need to deliver your artwork to you at your home address, so you wont be able to collect.
We’ll take you through the loan application process, which normally takes about 10 minutes. Once you’ve given all the information we need, you’ll get an instant decision. When your application is approved we’ll need you to sign some paperwork. You can then either take your painting right away or we’ll deliver. If you’re completing your Own Art application over the telephone, Own Art will contact you by email for you to approve the application using their e-signature process before we despatch your painting.
Own Art finance partner Novuna Personal Finance (a trading style of Mitsubishi HC Capital UK PLC, authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority) will send you a welcome letter and the 10 monthly payments will be collected by direct debit from your account starting a few weeks after you’ve made your purchase.
Simple as that!
There is no limit on the number of times you can use Own Art, but we recommend that you don’t apply for more than one loan at a time. Each loan application is subject to a credit check, and your application may be declined if you have not yet already established a repayment record for an existing Own Art loan, or if the finance company considers that the total amount of credit you are asking for is too high in relation to your income.
