Stephen Kinder
Stephen Kinder was born in West London in 1970. He is a self-taught painter who has completed degrees in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.

Stephen says “I have always found great comfort in the landscape, and am constantly drawn to reflect this connection in the form of paintings both as small pieces on location and large studio pieces. I am intrigued by the ever-changing weather and seasons, which dramatically change a locality. My work intends to be a reaction to the essence of a place I’ve visited. I find the way that light falls across this landscape and creates a particular mood and atmosphere very absorbing as I try to capture that particular moment in time. Some of these places and landscapes I have re-visited time and again and it is through my exploration and reflections that I have developed a deep understanding of the particular places and their character. I have a growing interest and affection for the Dartmouth area and this collection of paintings I have recently completed evoke the sense of time and tranquillity that I have found here.”

Over the last fifteen years Stephen has regularly held both solo and group exhibitions and exhibits in several galleries along the south coast and south of England. His work sells nationally and internationally, and he was a contestant in the 2021 Sky Arts Landscape Artist of the Year competition. Stephen is also Head of Art of a school in Surrey.
