Stephen Henderson

Stephen Henderson is the youngest son of renowned pop-artist Nigel Henderson and consequently grew up in intensely artistic surroundings. He was born and raised on the East coast and lives there to this day. His formative years were spent shooting and fishing on the marshes, allowing him to develop an expert eye for the behavior of the wildfowl and fish that teem there. Today he works from his studio overlooking those same marshes, finding fresh inspiration daily.

Stephen’s carvings make use of fragments of found wood to create beautiful sculptures which connect the viewer directly to the personality and essence of the wildlife he studies. His work is in private collections around the world. In 2009 he was awarded a residency at the Cill Rialaig Arts Project in Ireland and his work has twice been featured in the ‘Birds in Art’ exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisonsin.

We’re are thrilled to be able to show Stephen’s beautiful sculptures in a location as equally connected with his subject matter as the place in which they were created.
