Kate Barker is a British contemporary Artist living and working in South Devon. She has an affinity for the ocean and coastlines, adores the intricacies of nature and in contrast coastal architecture and how it’s sits in our environment.
Kate has a 1st Class BA Hons Fine Art Degree from Manchester and has studied at the much acclaimed Faculty of Arts in Valencia, Spain. She has lived in London, France,Spain, Portugal and India and continues to travel widely; experiences that continue to inspire her work.
Kate is best known for her pen and ink line drawings of coastal towns and cities. These works are elegant, fluid and contemporary and lure the viewer in with their intricacy and shear scale. She works outside on location for hours, often days, carefully and quietly observing , often moving around, drawing from a variety of perspectives and viewpoints, giving her works movement and bringing them to life, exploring the relationship of architecture in the landscape.
