Kate was born in 1974, in Exeter, grew up on a Devon small holding and as a child travelled all over Europe and India, with her parents. While living in Spain, she became fascinated with the city its people, culture and architecture. Kate took Flamenco classes and would vigorously draw the students, trying to capture the emotion and strength of Flamenco. She then went on to study printing and mono-printing and was represented by the gallery La Rampa in Spain. Kate’s work now is predominantly in black and white with a strong focus on line and form. Her work is fluid, figurative and contemporary. She works outside enabling her to capture the true feeling of a location whilst sitting amongst the buildings and talking with locals which helps to capture the essence of a place quickly, yet thoughtfully.
