Emma Davis left college in 1994 and has since then been a painter, a greetings card designer and a mother of two. Painting has always been her first love and after a spell producing images for commercial use she decided to return to painting to explore her own unique style. As she puts it, she decided to ‘get back to painting from the heart’.
Her current paintings are a glorious celebration of colour, texture and form. Emma paints with energy and enthusiasm, layering images until the final piece emerges. The journey often starts with a safe, controlled image and pushes on to a final, more exciting composition. Each painting is layered, textured, overworked and scratched back to arrive at the finished work. It’s not uncommon for no elements of the original image to remain in the completed painting. It is left for the viewer to interpret Emma’s work as they choose; you are an integral part of the work.
Emma uses some interesting titles for her work – all are inspired by the music she listens to as she paints in her studio.
