Andvari

'Andvari' is presented in an elegant box frame under anti-reflective glass.

This painting depicts Andvari, an old disused vessel resting along the tidal banks of Penryn on the River Fal. Focus is placed on its towering bow, timber superstructure, and the nautical clutter left behind on the mudflats by the receding tide. The composition is built up using salvaged wood scraps and narrow timber strips to form a raised, sculptural relief. Heavy coats of oil paint are then worked into the timber grain, defining the boat's exposed ribs with subtle shifts in hue."
